After almost twenty years of working in a wonderful cafe for some great people I decided to take a leap of faith and go out on my own when a property presented itself.
Nervously, I thought to myself I'd like to open up my own cafe in Pembroke with fantastic fair-trade coffee and fresh home-made food and goodies.
My husband being an artist added in that we should open a "gallery" cafe and show works from local artists and to not charge exorbitant commission fees like in galleries in the cities.
We went about finding out how to get fresh local seasonal produce and made friends with "Valley Food Co-op", and some local farmers.
I try to make everything myself from scratch other than the luscious cupcakes I have made for me from a wonderful baker named Lindsay from "Linka's Sweet Life" (check her out on Facebook)
I'm proud to say that I won the "Most Sensational Soup 2013" award at the Soup Sensations show in Pembroke and we continue to hear great things from our regulars as well as new people.
My husband told me once that Confucius said "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” Well I'm happy to say, I have the same whines as everyone else working in a coffee shop but there's not too often you'll catch me without a genuine smile across my face.
